Disney has announced the voice of Zazu in the live-action “Lion King,” and Pride Rock is so lit right now
In what may be *the best casting news that has ever happened,* and that is not hyperbolic whatsoever, Disney has announced the voice of Zazu in their live-action The Lion King remake. If you thought this movie couldn’t get any better, well take a seat, because we have news for you:
John Oliver has been cast as the wise bird and hand of the (lion) king for the movie, and WE TOLD YOU THIS WAS THE BEST CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT EVER.
According to The Wrap, who first broke the news, the comedian-turned-talk show host (and so many other things in-between) has signed on to what is quickly shaping up to be the most hotly anticipated Disney live-action remake. Oliver joins a very prestigious cast that already includes Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones returning to voice Mufasa, and Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, who are going to voice Pumbaa and Timone, respectively. Disney also really wants Queen B to voice Nala — and honestly if that happens, someone pinch me.
Currently, Oliver can be seen doling out the hottest news of the week every week on his HBO show, Last Week Tonight. Before that, he was a long-time Daily Show correspondent, and also used to appear on NBC’s beloved Community. He’s got a long history of being wise and trying to steer us in the right (moral) direction, which will make him a great addition to the movie. Because, like you could ever forget, Zazu is tasked with keeping a watchful eye over Simba. And Simba promptly ditches him.

Might we get to hear Oliver sing a few bars of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” himself? Is this possibly the best thing to ever happen to a Disney Movie? Hopefully, and yes.
