Disney’s “Frozen” is officially becoming a Broadway musical

It looks like Frozen fever will never be cured, because just when you thought the hype had died down, Disney gives us something else to be excited about. According to the New York TimesFrozen is officially making its Broadway debut in 2018.

Starting as a developmental production in 2017 before making its way to New York, the musical will have the same writers as the film, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, as well as some iconic Broadway names like director Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher), choreography Peter Darling (Billy Elliot), and costume designer Bob Crowley (Mary Poppins). Robert Lopez, by the way, is already an EGOT winner. He won a Tony for Best Original Score for writing Avenue Q. Are there more Tonys in his future? Perhaps, perhaps.

The cast has yet to be announced, which means aspiring performers everywhere are currently warming up their vocals and heading to the city for the audition of a lifetime.

If the success of the film, grossing $400 million in the United States and close to $1.3 billion worldwide, doesn’t promise amazing things, then Disney’s past Broadway triumphs, such as The Lion King, definitely do. Come spring 2018, fans are sure to be queuing up for this live performance of their favorite story.

Maybe we should get in line now just to be safe.
