A “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” docuseries is heading to Freeform, and we RSVP yes

They say every bride should feel like a princess on her wedding day, but the couples that will be featured on the new Freeform docuseries Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings take it to another level. The seven-part series — which was just officially greenlit by the Disney-owned network, according to The Hollywood Reporter — aims to enchant its viewers with stories of extravagant real-life weddings and engagements at Disney’s network of resorts and destinations.

Happily ever after is obviously the goal here.

But Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings is focused more on a behind-the-scenes look at the elaborate planning process and the epic celebrations themselves. In May, Freeform scored almost 3 million viewers with a one-off special of the same name and it appears they’ve decided to see how far this magic can go. (Though, we’re guessing they’ll need to find other TV personalities to fill in since its special hosts, Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins, have split).

The early summer special included everything you might envision for a Disney dream wedding.

Think fireworks illuminating the Disney World castle spires, carefully-planned romantic proposals, live music from Pentatonix, and — of course — a whimsical ride to the altar in that famous pumpkin-turned-carriage. We imagine the followup series will be similarly extravagant.

Each hour-long episode will follow a couple from the beginning of their wedding groundwork to “I do.” And Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, a Disney-owned luxury wedding planning business that exclusively works with people getting married or honeymooning at Disney destinations, will be among the show’s executive producers.

No premiere date has been set for the new series, but here’s wishing on a star it comes sooner rather than later. We could use another TV escape. And a chance to live vicariously through brides and grooms who have a lot more money, er, Tinker Bell’s pixie dust, than we do. We’ll pass on the glass slippers, though. Those things look hella uncomfortable.
