Disney channel star Debby Ryan plays a beauty queen on this new Netflix show
Sometimes, things really do work out for the best in the end. In this case, they’ve worked out for 24-year-old American actress, Debby Ryan, who will be starring in a new show, Insatiable, on Netflix. We all know Ryan from The Suite Life on Deck as Bailey. But won’t it be great to see this versatile actress in a new show?
But Debby Ryan’s new show ALMOST didn’t happen.
Insatiable was originally developed for the CW, and according to Deadline, got amazing reviews at the teen-centric network. However, tough decisions get made every year, and the CW could only pick up four new shows for next season. Although Insatiable didn’t make the cut, our hero Netflix was waiting in the wings. The content giant swooped in and grabbed the show up, and we’re all luckier for it!
So what do we know about the show?
Teen Vogue reports the new series is based on a true story. Dallas Roberts of American Crime and The Walking Dead, will play a coach for young participants in beauty pageants. Ryan, meanwhile, plays a teen outcast who turns to Roberts for advice on how to be a beauty queen.
Ryan posted on Instagram and said, "This series navigates a moving, intertwined spectrum of sexuality, race, love, age, identity, humour and the instability that comes from humanity and mental conditions."
Also appearing in the cast is Alyssa Milano, who will play a recurring role as Roberts’ wife.
