All the yes: Disney is considering a live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid”

Disney has been filling our hearts with so much joy lately. From the live-action Jungle Book to the soon-to-be released live-action Pete’s Dragon, Disney is bringing up all kinds of nostalgic feelings.

Those nostalgic feelings got even more intense earlier this week when the trailer for the live-action Beauty and the Beast was released and broke the record for most YouTube views in only 24 hours — 91.8 million views to be exact.

If you’re into all that Disney has been gifting us, prepare for your heart to figuratively explode, because Disney is talks to produce a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid!

We’re finding it a little hard to control our excitement, but since nothing has been confirmed, we’re going to do our best to carry on with our lives as normal.

JK def super excited.

The original Little Mermaid was released in 1989 and gave us gems like Under the SeaKiss the Girl, and Part of Your World. But you obviously already know all of that.

This summer Rebel Wilson, Sarah Bareilles, Darren Criss and John Stamos will be starring in Disney’s concert version of The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl. So maybe that’s a little precursor to the actual live-action movie. Maybe? Please??

Should Disney decide to move forward with the film, there will possibly be some competition as there’s already a live-action project in the works from Working Title and Universal. The project has Chloe Grace Moretz attached to star.

So maybe it’ll be a dual of movies, kind of like the dueling Jungle Book films this year.

Either way, we hope it happens. Because we want Ariel to be part of our world again!
