*All* of Disney’s television channels are coming to Hulu and we are psyched
If you don’t already have a Hulu subscription, then you better get on it before 2017. That’s because Hulu announced a deal with The Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox to make 35 more networks available on the streaming service in early 2017…eek!
That means TV shows from all of the Disney channels — ABC, Freeform, and (but of course) Disney Channel — will soon be on Hulu. Get ready to binge!
While the statement didn’t explicitly state that old shows from these channels (Lizzie McGuire, Bunheads, and Lost, anyone?) would be available, the CEO of Hulu, Mike Hopkins, said:
“With these two new deals in place, and additional partners to come, Hulu will soon give TV fans of all ages live and on-demand access to their favorite programs in a whole new, more flexible, highly personalized way.”
To offer you some hope about accessing old Disney Channel series, Viacom and Hulu already have a similar deal and you can watch Season 1 on of MTV shows like 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom, and The Real World. Yes, some of these are still on the air, but Hulu has also got some old school Comedy Central programs like Chappelle’s Show — so we’re just saying, there’s a chance.
Even if this new Hulu deal doesn’t mean you’ll get all of the DCOMs you could want, you should still be able to access most of the current Disney, ABC, and Freeform programming. That hopefully means enough Girl Meets World, Grey’s Anatomy, and Pretty Little Liars for everyone!
To add to the excitement, this deal will also continue to bring TV series from FOX, FX, and FXX to Hulu too — aka, binging New Girl and American Horror Story all day every day.
So while we’ll have to wait until 2017 to see exactly what Hulu’s announcement will mean for our Disney Channel-loving hearts, Hulu might just become your favorite streaming service — shhh, just don’t tell Netflix.
