The director of “Last Jedi” spent *hours* meeting “Star Wars” fans — at 3 a.m.
While the 2017 Star Wars Celebration is undoubtedly filled with panels featuring some of our favorite Star Wars icons and behind the scenes surprises, the most anticipated event has to be the Star Wars:The Last Jedi panel. Fans waited in line overnight for the panel which happened early Friday afternoon. It was so highly anticipated, fans started camping out Thursday night for the panel, and that is some Star Wars dedication.
Yes, you read that right: Fans slept overnight in the Orange County Convention Center.
While fans spent hours waiting in line, they were surprised by the arrival by a major Star Wars player: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. Johnson, who was joined by producer Ram Bergman, surprised fans in line and spent hours weaving through the line, talking to fans, and signing autographs.
Fans were obviously thrilled:

It seems Johnson was just as as amazing as we would expect. According to Entertainment Weekly, he told fans, “I’m psyched to meet you guys. You guys are hardcore.” He spent over four hours talking to fans and opened The Last Jedi panel by thanking fans for their support, admitting that he was very nervous to be presenting the film and that the fans were incredibly reassuring.

We love that Johnson is just as enthusiastic as every other Star Wars fan. We can’t wait to see The Last Jedi when it arrives in theaters on December 15th!
