Justin Bieber as you’ve never seen him before, thanks to Diplo and Skrillex
Diplo and Skrillex are both having a seriously kickass summer. There’s Skrillex’s recent “Untitled” which features Katie Couric (singing about maple syrup. . . yep), and Major Lazer (created by Diplo) recently performed “Lean On” on the Tonight Show. And now, together as Jack Ü, they have released a seriously awesome music video entitled “Where Are Ü Now,” which is totally topping the charts. Not only is it ultra catchy, but it’s rivaling T-Swift’s “Bad Blood” in terms of pure visual awesomeness. Why? Because we get to see Justin Bieber dancing with rad, fan-made doodles all over him.
Earlier this month, fans were given the opportunity to draw over stills of Biebs dancing at the Seventh Letter Gallery in LA. They were then transformed into a groovy clip featuring the doodled stills one after another. The effect is a super-psychedelic, dancing Justin, and we’re totally feeling it.
“We are being overwhelmed, in a good way, by the success of ‘Where Are Ü Now’ with Justin Bieber, so with the video we wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record [and] essentially create an ode to our fans,” Diplo and Skrillex wrote on YouTube. “Doing what we do, it’s entirely all about the fans. We walk a fine line by being ‘famous’ and in the public eye, but we are only here because of you, the fans.”
They also explained that Justin wrote the record “during a tough time in his life and it comes to us that sometimes, as artists, we are also just objects and we have to take that as much as we have to use that to create. We all do this for you, respect that you put us here and it’s Ü that made the video.”
We can’t get enough of all this awesome creativity. Check out the video below and be prepared to be totally blown away by a very trippy Biebs gettin’ his groove on.
