So, people are obsessed with this dill pickle soup recipe, and we’re trying to keep an open mind

We have to be honest: Our taste buds aren’t exactly tingling with excitement over the thought of a dill pickle soup recipe, but according to Delish, people are obsessing over it like it belongs at the top of a fall food bucket list.

So, what’s all the fuss about? Will this pickle soup recipe go down in history as one of the most non-boring comfort foods to stuff your face with? Well, it just might because since The Noble Pig shared the dill pickle recipe video on Facebook, it’s racked up more than 15 million views.

TBQH, it does look rather tasty:

So, after reading about the ingredients and watching the video, we kind of feel bad for mentally comparing it to the gag-inducing, non-vegan mock turtle soup recipe that Richard Gilmore wanted after his mom died.

In reality, dill pickle soup isn’t actually *that* strange.

You start by bringing chopped potatoes and carrots, butter and chicken broth to a boil. Then, here’s where things get tricky: You add a small bowl of chopped pickles and stir and OMG y’all, we PROMISE we’re trying to keep an open mind here.

Then in a separate bowl, combine flour, water and sour cream and whisk. Add it to the boiling potato/carrot/butter/broth mixture and stir. Then you stir in some pickle juice (ugh, we’re still hangin’ in here), Old Bay seasoning (ah, redemption!), salt, pepper and cayenne. Garnish with a few dill pickle slices and you have a pot of dill pickle soup to serve at your next shindig.

Whew! We made it through and again, it actually doesn’t sound that bad. Now if we can just get the thought of slurping straight pickle juice out of our minds, we might be able to give this recipe a try.
