Diane Kruger’s Dior gown is the 2017 dress trend everyone will be wearing

Showing us exactly what a rock-n-roll-Audrey-Hepburn-meets-Madonna-in-the-’80s mashup would look like, style icon Diane Kruger wore a Dior gown so insanely chic, we’re struggling to catch our breath.

Attending the Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 runway show at Paris Fashion Week on Monday, Kruger — who is known for her je ne sais quois personal style — embraced a cool-girl ’80s vibe in a black, off-the-shoulder Dior gown complete with to-the-navel silver closures.

Finishing off her ensemble with a choker, bejeweled box clutch, and pointy-toe slingback heels, Kruger offered a master class in how to be both sexy and elegant, and demonstrated what a good neckline can do for a outfit.

Take a closer look at the neckline on Kruger’s gown — sheer perfection, and soon to be everywhere.

Kruger has long been a fan of Dior, wearing the brand’s show-stopping gowns to a variety of red carpet events over the years. To the closing ceremonies of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, for example, she wore a vintage Dior Couture gown that turned heads.

The voluminous, checkered gown, while certainly applause-worthy, also proved very difficult to put on and take off.

Recalled Kruger in an interview with People at the time, “[The dress] had a huge bodice. It was so big that it took me an hour to get into it and the only way for me to go to the bathroom was to take off the bodice.”

"Once I finished dinner, I had to go to the bathroom and it became so tight that I couldn’t breathe anymore. Josh [Jackson, her then-boyfriend] had to come with me to the ladies room and cut me out of it. He literally had to help me remove the dress to help me go to the bathroom. It was crazy!"

The tea-length black frock she wore last night seemed much more practical — but we admire your commitment to great style, Diane!
