Diana Ross celebrated daughter Tracee Ellis Ross’ Emmy nod in the sweetest way

Major congrats are in order for Tracee Ellis Ross for her recent Emmy nod. The fab actress is the first black woman to receive a Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nomination since Phylicia Rashad’s 1986 nod for The Cosby Show. While we’re blowing Ross virtual air kisses and excitedly applauding her accomplishment, no one can celebrate success like a mother, specifically when the woman you call mom is legendary singer Diana Ross.

In extraordinary superstar diva fashion, Ross went above and beyond to let the world know about her daughter’s Emmy nomination by placing a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter.

“Congratulations to my daughter Tracee Ellis Ross on her nomination for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Black’ish. So proud of you,” reads the ad.

Take notes, everyone. You’re never too grown up to be cooed over by your mom, and if it’s going to happen, this is definitely how it should be done. We’re sure that’s some sage advice that the Black-ish actress can get behind.
