Devon Sawa says he’s ready to break our hearts all over again in “Casper 2”
Here’s a serious question for you guys: would Casper still be cute if, instead of “the friendly ghost,” Devon Sawa rebranded it as “Casper, the 38-Year-Old Ghost?”
No? Too creepy?
Because according to some late night tweets, the early-to-mid-’90s teen heartthrob is ready get ghosty should the powers that be ever decide there was more to Kat and Casper’s story that needed to be told. He only appeared briefly in the 1995 film as the human form of the ghost (who was voiced by Malachi Pearson), but no mind — Sawa gave us the moment that truly counts.
He later starred on The CW’s Nikita from 2010 until 2013, and he appeared in the iTunes SLC Punk sequel Punk’s Dead just last year, but the father of two’s career has noticeably died down since its ’90s heydey.
… But since everything ’90s is coming back again, why not Casper, besides the whole aforementioned “he’s almost 40 now” thing?
Alright, I know it's been awhile.. but I think I'm finally ready to do a Casper sequel.

… And while we’re at it, why not have Pretty Little Liars guru Marlene King take a break from teens hiding bodies and keeping secrets, and instead focus her time on catching up with Sawa, Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, and Gaby Hoffmann in Now and Then 2: Even Now-er? Sawa is down!
Hey @imarleneking, where we at on that Now and Then 2 script?

If Ricci and Universal Pictures aren’t on board for all this, Sawa has plans to make it happen. false
Unless he’s just joking.
Actually I'm not ready for Casper 2 yet. Good night.

Maybe the world isn’t ready for a gritty, grownup Casper 2 just yet. But we will be. And when that time comes, Sawa will be waiting.
