Meet Disney villains’ teenage kids in the ‘Descendants’ trailer
We are suckers for all things Disney. The classic movies and animated features are, of course, amazing, but reimagine any part of the Disney universe and we (along with, you know, the rest of the Internet) are pretty much instantly hooked. The Internet is brimming with new takes on Disney classics. Disney princesses as Mean Girls? Must see. Disney princesses with trendy hair? Can’t miss. And when Disney itself gets in on the action, like when it released Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, which took us inside the more sensitive side of one of the Disney canon’s most evil villains.
Disney’s latest venture into reimagining their own worlds is Descendants, a Disney Channel Original Movie (yes, meaning it will be airing for free in your home — OMG) that follows the teenage kids of some of Disney’s biggest baddies. There’s Mal, the daughter of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty; Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations; Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White; and Jay, the son of Jafar from Aladdin. That’s one evil group of offspring.
In Descendants, Belle and the Beast (now in his human form) are the queen and king of all the Disney land and their son, Ben, is about to take the throne. His first act as king is to un-banish some of the children of the villains who have been exiled to the Isle of the Lost. So, the villain kids attend the hero kids’ magical, majestic prep school (because of course they do) and proceed to wreak havoc and learn lessons and everything you would expect from a good DCOM.
