Derek and Julianne Hough dressed like Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling from “La La Land”
Okay, if you haven’t seen La La Land, what are you waiting for?! People are loving it so much, they’re dressing up as cast members. In fact, this past weekend, Derek and Julianne Hough dressed like La La Land couple Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s characters, reported E! News. Why? For Nina Dobrev’s La La Land-themed 28th birthday party, according to PopSugar. We ~love~ it — though, birthday party or not, we don’t need an excuse to dress like characters from the classy film.
Derek posted the photo on Instagram, and we couldn’t love it more. We’d say he and his sister would def get scored a “10” for their outfits.
And here’s a still of Stone and Gosling in the film.
The Dancing With The Stars Hough siblings mastered the look, right?!
Of course, birthday girl Dobrev dressed the La La Land part, too.
And while we’re looking at birthday photos, we can’t skip the cake!
Quick aside: As you may remember, Dobrev ~loves~ unicorns and her unicorn slippers.
But back to La La Land.
ICYMI and are one of the few who haven’t seen the movie, it’s a musical set in L.A. and it’s impossible to see it just once. It’s a love story between an aspiring actress (Stone) and a jazz pianist (Gosling). Damien Chazelle, writer and director of Whiplash, wrote and directed it.
He told Deadline that La La Land takes place in L.A. because “it’s almost the embodiment of the romantic idea of America, you know, the freeways that go on to infinity, the big horizon, the big sky, the beach, Hollywood, you know the whole thing is so larger than life and so kind of iconic America in their mind. There’s a lot to play with there.
We’ll say. And if you’ve spent any time in L.A. and/or have pursued larger-than-life dreams of your own, you’ll soooo relate.
Plus, La La Land has already won awards, having won six Golden Globes — which broke a record for the most by one film. Plus, Stone won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. And, tbh, we’re not at all surprised. Just check out the trailer for a sneak peek and you’ll see what we mean.

Once you see the film, it’ll probably inspire you to have a La La Land-themed party of your own. And why the heck not? Overall, not only will the film make you believe in movies again, what a moving experience they can be, but it’ll also make you believe in love again. And we can use all the inspiration we can get, right?
If you are one of the few who hasn’t seen La La Land yet, go do it STAT, like rn. In fact, we’ll go again, too. See you there!
