Demi Lovato will be having none of your sexuality labels
When it comes to defining sexuality, Demi Lovato refuses to confine herself. “It’s something I don’t think needs to have a label,” she recently told People. “As humans, It’s just about a connection with someone.” Lovato joins other celebs who haven’t been afraid to speak up about sexuality, such as Amandla Stenberg and Kristen Stewart.
The 23-year-old singer, who is an advocate for the LGBT community, recently cancelled a planned concert with Nick Jonas in North Carolina due to the state’s transphobic bathroom bill. “I grew up in a home where there was absolutely nothing wrong with somebody identifying as another sex or liking the same sex,” she said. “People will say, ‘Thank you so much for all that you do.’ And my response is: It’s just something that people should already be doing.”
Jonas also shared his thoughts on their decision to cancel the gig. “I came from a really loving home that was all about acceptance — acceptance of all people of all walks of life. So I think I’ve carried that with me as I’ve transitioned into my adult career. I try to do what I can to support a community that’s been very supportive of me.”
Last week, Lovato announced she had ended a relationship with her boyfriend of six years, Wilmer Valderrama.
