Demi Lovato unfollowed Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, and Iggy Azalea on Instagram after posting about “true friends”
It’s only been a couple of weeks since Demi Lovato left rehab, but it looks like she’s decided to make some big changes, starting with the friendships in her life. Right leaving a comment on a photo from a fan account about “true friendship,” Lovato unfollowed a few of her former close friends on Instagram, and we’re wondering what it all means.
When Lovato was first released from rehab, Radar Online reported that she’d fired her trainer, Danielle Martin, after Martin gave the outlet an interview about Lovato’s overdose. Some fans disagreed with the decision and, as Entertainment Tonight pointed out, a screenshot of a tweet from one fan surfaced on Instagram, saying, “It was completely unfair to fire Dani, she’s one of the few who really cares about Demi’s health and has been helping her for 3 years, she’s surrounded by people who only care about her money and she does not see it.”
Lovato responded in a comment on the Instagram post, writing, “You have no idea what you’re talking about. True friends don’t do interviews about you when you OD.
And now, it sounds like Lovato might not just have been talking about Martin. Lovato has unfollowed Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, and Iggy Azalea—three people she was formerly close friends with and three people who just so happened to share their comments on Lovato’s overdose after she was hospitalized.
Although Jonas, Gomez, and Azalea didn’t speak extensively about Lovato’s overdose, all three of them did comment on it. While Jonas tweeted about the news, calling Lovato a fighter, Gomez shared that she reached out to her old friend personally in an interview with Elle, and Azalea said in an interview with People that she thought Lovato would be able to turn the experience into “something positive.”
There’s no word on whether Lovato decided to unfollow these formerly close friends of hers because they spoke out about her overdose, or if it’s for another reason. But whatever’s going on, it looks like Lovato’s cleaning house. And at this point, that might be the best thing for her if she’s trying to live a healthier life.
We just want Lovato to be healthy and happy, no matter what she has to do (or who she has to unfollow) to get there. Hopefully, she’s able to continue her recovery and find peace.
