Demi Lovato’s cover of “Take Me To Church” is next-level beautiful

“Take Me To Church” is a beautifully haunting song that has been interpreted and covered by a countless number of creative people, including Ed Sheeran, Hannah Gill, and Runaground. The latest singer to completely recreate the Hozier song? Demi Lovato.

On BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, the talented superstar aced her cover of this popular tune. Even though Hozier himself has a distinct style that’s hard to replicate, Demi used her impressive vocals to make the song come alive. It’s also important to note that the songstress gives this track a distinct Demi Lovato touch. While these aren’t lyrics that she’s personally written, it doesn’t come off that way. She sings with an intense amount of passion and emotion, so much so that you will get goosebumps when you hear her belt out each and every note.

At times during the performance, Demi closes her eyes and really gets into the song. You can tell that she respects Hozier’s work and wants to do justice to his lyrical words. On our end, this just makes us love her even more than we already do.

And here’s the best part: Hozier loves it, too! On Twitter, the original “Take Me To Church” vocalist writes, “Huge thank you to @ddlovato for doing this gorgeous cover of TMTC in the #LiveLounge today. Very Flattered.”

Since her latest songs are more cheerful and fun, this particular cover contrasts them in a good way. It gives listeners a bit of Demi variety, while proving that she’s capable of doing anything she puts her mind to.
