Demi Lovato just quit Twitter and Instagram and we totally support her

We always turn to Demi Lovato when we need some words of wisdom, so we totally trust her when she says it’s all just too much. The “Confident” singer announced Monday afternoon that she would be quitting Twitter and Instagram due to the negativity she receives on the platforms, and she has our full support. false false

Of course, we are totally going to miss her on our feeds. We loved Demi’s refreshing honesty about everything from body image to mental health, as well as just her day-to-day antics that were so entertaining. Luckily, the 23-year-old said she’d still be on Snapchat, so it’s not goodbye forever. false

Demi’s frustration stems from the hate that came from people who followed her on social media even though they didn’t like what she had to say, as well as the fact that people only seemed to focus on small, petty details of the singer’s life, rather than appreciating the good things she’s done.

“That one time I started my own charity providing mental health care for people who can’t afford it and this is what y’all talk about,” Demi wrote. “And people wonder what’s wrong with the world. Pay more attention to good than bad.”

And with that, the singer was gone. We’re not sure if her absence is permanent, or we should expect to see her back on our phones and screens once everything has calmed down. No matter what, we hope Demi is doing what’s best for her peace of mind and mental health. The certainly isn’t the first celeb to take a break from social media, but we hope she’ll be the last to feel the need to do so.
