Demi Lovato’s family clapped back after body-shamers attacked her recent post-rehab selfie
Since leaving rehab, Demi Lovato has returned to Instagram twice. Once, to post a photo from the voting booth, and most recently to celebrate her love of jiu-jitsu. The singer shared a beautiful makeup-free selfie after a recent jiu-jitsu session, and her message is everything.
“Sweaty, messy jiu jitsu hair,” Lovato captioned the photo, along with the hashtags #bluebelt and #nevergiveup. Lovato’s #nevergiveup hashtag has a deeper meaning when put in the context of her sobriety. After her hospitalization in July 2018, Lovato took to Instagram to enlighten her fans about her struggle with addiction, calling it “something I must continue to overcome.”
Lovato has been practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu for years and her tireless commitment (#nevergiveup) to the sport is not lost on us. This photo even got a prayer hands emoji from the official UFC Instagram account.

But because this is the internet, there were a number of trolls sharing negative, body-shaming comments on Lovato’s post. And her family is not here for it.
In a video going around social media, Lovato's sister, Dallas Lovato, said, "Ya know what? Here's another thing I'm just saying to all the f--king tabloids out there right now calling my sister fat, go f--k yourself because she's the most beautiful, strong, amazing person that I've ever met in my entire life. And everyone why are you making my sister's body the topic of your conversation, go f--k yourself."
"E tem outra coisa, para todos os tabloides de merda que estão por aí chamando a minha irmã de gorda, vão se foder, porque ela é a pessoa mais linda, incrível e forte que eu já conheci em toda a minha vida", Dallas Lovato sobre a Demi em live no Instagram. pic.twitter.com/42UTceu0ex
