Demi Lovato will perform for the first time since 2018—and it’s happening *really* soon
Lovatics, rejoice! After over a month of waiting for Demi Lovato to reveal the meaning behind her cryptic Instagram post—captioned, “The next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing….”—we now know what she was hinting at, and boy, is it exciting. Lovato just announced that she’s slated to perform at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards on January 26th, and now we’re even more pumped for the iconic awards show.
When the singer first made her mysterious announcement on December 4th, we naturally freaked out and assumed she would be releasing new music soon. Little did we know, Lovato had a hard-earned, prestigious live performance up her sleeve. The Grammys showcase the best of the best in music every year, so landing a coveted performance slot during the three-hour show is a big deal.
We can’t think of anyone who deserves this more than Lovato, who shows off her impressive pipes every time she performs live.

The Grammys will mark her first live, televised performance since her duet with Christina Aguilera at the May 2018 Billboard Music Awards. It’s also the first since her reported overdose in July 2018. Just a month before, Lovato released her most recent (and very powerful) song “Sober,” in which she opened up about relapsing from sobriety.
Aside from the surprise single “Sober,” she hasn’t released new music since her smash album, Tell Me You Love Me in 2017, so we’re super curious to see which song Lovato chooses to perform. She has quite the roster of hits to choose from, but who knows—maybe she’ll drop an even bigger surprise and perform a brand new song. Whatever she decides, we’ll be cheering Lovato on through her entire comeback performance.
Lovato joins an impressive list of artists taking the Staples Center stage in two weeks, including Lizzo, Gwen Stefani, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Aerosmith, and Blake Shelton. The Recording Academy has yet to release the entire list of performers, but starting with these seven artists, the Grammys is shaping up to be one hell of a night for music.
