Demi Lovato’s fans are tweeting powerful stories about how her lyrics have healed them
Since news first broke on July 24th that Demi Lovato was hospitalized for an apparent overdose, her fans have been reeling. Lovato has always been open about her struggles with addiction and mental illness, and to find out that she’s struggling again (just weeks after releasing her single “Sober,” about a recent relapse) is heartbreaking.
Fortunately, it sounds like Lovato is doing better and, according to a statement from her rep, she’s “awake and with her family.” There haven’t been many updates on her condition, but one thing’s for sure: she’s touched so many lives.
Fans have been tweeting about how Lovato has helped them through breakups, depression, and the darkest times of their lives using the hashtag #HowDemiHasHelpedMe, and these tweets are powerful.
This fan pointed out that Lovato helped her with her sobriety:
#HowDemiHasHelpedMe when I was at the worst part of my life and I just wanted to give up completely, Demi’s speeches and music and book just kept me going and helped me be able to finally ask for help. I just recently passed 5 years clean and I credit that partially to her. ❤️

Even more fans shared stories of overcoming huge obstacles in their lives, all thanks to the example Lovato set for them:
#HowDemiHasHelpedMe i remember one night in the hospital after an attempt, i was sitting in my hospital room on the floor next to the radio with my head against the wall and tears were streaming down my face.
then skyscraper came on the radio.

She helped me ask for help. Her music has been there with me in waiting rooms before counselling, her music has been there for me in all my hospital stays. She has been there for me in my dark times and I am so grateful for her #HowDemiHasHelpedMe
