Demi Lovato’s social media break didn’t last nearly as long as we expected it to

Demi Lovato has ended her Twitter and Instagram hiatus — and from start to finish the whole thing only lasted about 24 hours. Hey, we get it.

On Monday she seemed to have gotten enough of all those social media trolls — we can’t imagine what kind of negativity celebs get in their mentions every day — and sent this series of tweets announcing her intentions to log off the platform: false false false false false false

While we don’t know exactly which message received set her off, the intention behind her messages is clear: If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

We totally understand where Demi was coming from, especially when put into the context of the mental health charity she mentioned. Demi, who has dealt with bipolar disorder, anorexia, and bulimia, has done a lot of mental health advocacy work in the past, and we can completely understand how social media followers making light of an issue so important to her, upset her.

That said, Demi couldn’t stay away too long — hey, who hasn’t deleted a social media account in the heat of the moment. She sent this tweet out this morning: false

TBH, we already considered her one of our most honest celebs, so if she’s getting even MORE honest? We are all about that. So are the Lovatics. false

Shake those haters off, Demi; your words inspire us and we don’t want to lose your social media wisdom. We are here for you, just like you’re here for us.
