Demi Lovato’s rad, emoji-filled message about self-love
No matter whether you’re thin or curvy, everybody (or shall we say, every body?) is beautiful. And once again, Demi Lovato is here to remind us that curves are beautiful, too. On Saturday, she posted a totally gorg picture of herself reclining on the couch, showing off her own curves while explaining to her fans that it’s time to stop being ashamed of their own.
“Learn to lurrrrrvveee yerrrrr currrrrvveees,” she wrote in the caption. “I actually used to hate them. . . But then a special someone helped me learn how to love them. . . And he sure loves them.” We’re gonna assume she’s talking about her boyfriend, 35-year-old Wilmer Valderrama, whom she’s been with for about five years — d’aw!
Not only are we happy for Demi — it’s so wonderful and important to feel supported by someone who loves you — but we’re thrilled that she repeatedly uses social media as a platform to preach the ever-important gospel of body acceptance. For example, there’s the time that she posted a picture of her body with the caption “Regardless of what society tells you these days. . . You don’t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful. It is possible to love your body the way it is.”
And, of course, she also drops major truth bombs about self-love in interviews. “As women, we’ve grown up thinking that we have to wear makeup and that’s not true,” she told The Kit in early May. “If girls can go one day out of the week without wearing makeup, I think that’s really empowering.”
Of course, no matter what size you are, you are beautiful. And if you love to wear makeup, you should go for it. But what Demi wants everyone to know? Everyone is beautiful, and every girl should only want to change herself for her own sake. . . not society’s. Thanks, Demi, for the realness, as always.
