Demi Lovato praises the body positive role models who helped her embrace her shape
Even our role models need role models, and Demi Lovato sure picked some good ones. In an interview with Complex, for which she also posed for some awesome pictures, she explains that looking to other celebrities was a big part in helping her accept her own body.
She names a bunch of her favorites: Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, and even all of the Kardashians. Yep, she actually has a great reason for including them among her body positive role models. She admires them specifically for their confidence when it comes to their bodies. “For so long, it was the heroin-chic ’90s supermodel thing,” Lovato explains. “And I feel like, when the Kardashians came into the picture, people started to look at it because it was different.”
The media finally realized it was cool to be curvy, and this realization helped Lovato overcome her own body image struggles:
Loving your body should be an everyday occurrence, but we know how hard it can be to look at yourself and feel the same sense of awe when we look at a celebrity. That’s why Lovato’s newfound acceptance of herself is so inspiring. She took to Instagram to spread the joy she felt upon accepting who she is by sharing some pictures from the photoshoot that accompanied her interview.

The only thing that could make this better would be the promise of a new song. “Hot For The Winter,” perhaps?
