Debra Messing criticized E! for gender pay inequality — in an interview with E!
There are many things that have us excited about this evening’s Golden Globes. Not the least of which is the social and political discussion we’re expecting, given everything that’s been going on in the entertainment industry — women (and men) speaking out against sexual misconduct, pay inequality, and more. One of the many women of Hollywood who is ready to speak out against gender discrimination in the film and television industries is Debra Messing, who came in hotat the Golden Globes.
Debra Messing started off her awards night by revisiting the conversation about alleged gender pay inequality at E! News.
And Debra Messing did so in an interview with E! on the red carpet.
"Time is up. We want diversity, we want intersectional gender parity, we want equal pay," Messing said. "And, I mean, you know, I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn't believe in paying their female cohosts the same as their male cohosts. I mean, I miss Catt Sadler and so we stand with her. And that's something that can change tomorrow. We want people to start having this conversation that women are just as valuable as men."
We love that Debra Messing is supporting women and people of color, and that she stands by Sadler — who recently left the network after learning that her male cohost, Jason Kennedy, earns almost twice as much as her, and had been for years.

We appreciate that Messing came in ready to rumble (regardless of who from a certain network was interviewing her). The night’s just getting started and we are so excited to see what her fellow amazing women of Hollywood have in store.
