The latest trailer for “Death Note,” Netflix’s newest, creepiest film, is here
Japanese horror is the epitome of creepy, and many horror fans hold it in the top tier of what’s most terrifying. (How many of us still don’t want to keep TVs in our room after watching The Ring?)Netflix’s new creepy-as-anything movie, Death Note, a Japanese horror adaptation, is no exception.
And if the movie is anything like the brand new trailer (or even the teaser), this is going to be one of the creepiest films of the year.

Death Note is a live-action adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s 2003 Japanese manga series. The manga was so popular it lead to an anime series, a bunch of live-action movies, and even a musical. Netflix’s version is poised to be super creepy, especially because it’s directed by Adam Wingard, who is behind the ultra-terrifying You’re Next. (It should also be noted that Death Note has received backlash for whitewashing.)
In the adaptation, Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars)plays the lead, Light Turner. Turner stumbles upon a mysterious (some might say evil) notebook. Anyone’s name you write in the pages dies — and you can choose how they die. There’s a whole lot of room for a whole lot of messed up stuff to happen, and the second trailer gives us a closer glimpse.
Here are just a few key points:
There are a ton of bodies.
The God of Death exists, and he’s terrifying.
There are guns and explosions, so it’s pretty action-packed.
Death Note hits Netflix on August 25th, and Keith Stanfield (Get Out), Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), and Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) also star. Get ready to feel terrified.
