The ‘Deadpool’ trailer is here and, oh, is it intense (and nsfw)

Last night, Conan O’Brien needed to up his TV rating from TV-G, to TV-MA — MA for “mature audiences.” That’s because Ryan Reynolds stopped by for a visit, and brought along the first OFFICIAL Deadpool trailer. It is intense. It is bloody. There’s a lot of swearing and a lot of jokes, so yes, it’s exactly what we could have hoped for from a Deadpool trailer. The wait has been totally worth it.

The trailer quickly establishes Deadpool’s story, and for those unfamiliar here goes: Special Forces operative, Wade Wilson, has been diagnosed with cancer, and it is spreading. He decides to take an alternative medicine route, which involves a government experiment, and he comes out the other side with accelerated healing powers. There’s only one thing left to do now and that’s color with crayons. Oh, and put on a super-suit and become Deadpool. Post-op Wilson is no longer with the Special Forces, but he is a mercenary with a whole lot to say.

Deadpool is not your average superhero, and this will not be the average superhero movie. The trailer gives us a few crazy fight scenes with lots of graphic violence. There’s a brief spat of nudity. And then there’s the swearing, lots and lots of swearing. This is a first for a Marvel movie, considering in Age of Ultron there was a running joke through the whole thing that no one was allowed to curse. It’s probably a good thing Deadpool’s not an Avenger.

You can check out the whole NSFW trailer here. But, again, it is NSFW and not for the faint of heart. But wait, here’s the SFW version, which is just as good and a little easier to stomach.
