The new “Deadpool 2” poster shows us that Wade Wilson is a maniac on the floor
We’ve been getting a lot of solid Deadpool 2 content lately (no trailer yet, but still some great stuff). The Deadpool Twitter account live-tweeted the Super Bowl with lots of hilarious commentary, and the man behind the Merc with a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds, just tweeted out a brand new poster for the film. Of course, Deadpool posters are never just images featuring your classic superhero power pose or an action-packed shot of a soon-to-be iconic fight in the movie.
No, the posters almost always incorporate more unique sources of inspiration. And the new poster for Deadpool 2 continues this unique tradition of movie marketing, showing our favorite, foul-mouthed hero channeling an iconic moment from an ’80s film classic — Flashdance (because OF COURSE). Mr. Pool is featured on a chair, back arched, WORKING IT under a shower of, what else, bullets.
Reynolds also tweeted out the tagline for Flashdance, “Take your passion. And make it happen.” And the tagline is weirdly appropriate for the much-anticipated antihero sequel. After all, Ryan Reynolds did work incredibly hard to save Wade Wilson and Deadpool from the injustices done to them by X-Men Origins: Wolverine. His love for the character and passion for making a Deadpool movie the right way (even with only a $58 million dollar budget, which is pretty small for a superhero film) is clear as day.
And, just like Flashdance, Deadpool was a bit of a risky move that ended up being a huge hit with fans.
So I guess what I’m saying is, this poster is basically perfect, because the longer you look at it, Deadpool is just Flashdance with bullets, right? Right!

Of course, this really only makes us more antsy to get a full-length trailer, but with the marketing ramping up for the movie, the trailer has got to be close by.
The film lands in theaters on May 18th, and that can’t get here quickly enough!
