So it turns out this “Stranger Things” character might not be dead

Stranger Things Season 1 seemed to wrap up somewhat nicely, until the last five minutes or so hit. It was then when we realized that there are still so many questions about the series that need to be addressed. (Of course, if you’re not at the end yet — or simply just don’t want any spoilers for the next season — you might want to turn around now.)

Luckily IGN talked to Matt and Ross Duffer (the two brothers who created the series) about what’s to come. For the record, Season 2 hasn’t been made official yet… but, it’s going to happen. I mean, Netflix hasn’t had one show that’s been cancelled after their first season, and based on the buzz, it’s unlikely that Stranger Things will make history and be the first.

But, moving on. If you read the headline and hoped it’d be Barb, unfortunately you’re out of luck.

“I can’t see it happening,” Matt admitted. “But Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.”

If we can’t get Barb, at least we can see people caring about Barb. While it seemed strange that we didn’t get too much focus on her parents after her disappearance, Matt cleared everything up by explaining that the first season only took place in approximately a week’s time. Obviously, there wasn’t too much time to show a lot of heavy grieving.

So, if not Barb, who?

Dr. Martin Brenner, of course. While Matthew Modine is totally a gem, it’s a little frightening that they’d bring back such a mysterious villain. While we assumed he was dead, they didn’t focus too much on it, so having him return wouldn’t be breaking any established storylines.

“I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner … as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me, when the monster jumps on him and we cut away,” Matt said. “He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again.”

Let’s at least hope that if we have to see Brenner again, he’ll be far, far away from Eleven. Or at the very least, done with his creepy and damaging experiments. It’s still kind of a question mark as to whether or not he’s Eleven’s actual father, or if he just forced her to refer to him by such a title, so it’d be wonderful to have a little bit of clarification there, too.

Otherwise, we are ready for Season 2. Bring. It. On.
