The trailer for the ‘Dazed and Confused’ sequel is here and making our week
Alright, alright, alright, the “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused is finally here, and we didn’t even know that we were waiting for it. If you’ve never heard of Dazed and Confused, I suggest you watch it. But for now, you mostly just need to know that it was the launchpad for Matthew McConaughey’s career, as well as a Richard Linklater (of Boyhood directing mega-fame) cult classic. It shows the last day of school of a bunch of teenagers in 1976.
So if you’re not yet, get PUMPED for the sequel, which is titled Everybody Wants Some, and the trailer that was just released. It’s all things groovy and week-making.

Everybody Wants Some follows a new group of students in the ’80s. And this time, they’re a bunch of baseball players in college. And just like in Dazed and Confused, the cast appears to be a bunch of actors that are fairly unknown. The trailer shows the group of baseball players getting into hijinks with girls, booze, and marijuana — a lot of the same hijinks that happened in Dazed and Confused.
But interestingly enough, Linklater pointed out that the slacker sequel Everybody Wants Some picks up where his film Boyhood left off. Boyhood ends with Mason moving into his college dorm room. Which is right where Everybody Wants Some starts!
“The new film is about a guy showing up at college and meeting his roommates,” Linklater shared with Yahoo News. But it appears as though that’s the only similarity, and Mason definitely doesn’t make a cameo in this film. “For it to be the movie that it is, young Mason would have to be a very different person.”
Hey, well if we get another Matthew McConaughey out of the deal, I’m more than okay with the lack of connections to Boyhood. Linklater, we’re glad to see you’ve thrown your comedy hat back into the ring!
