Soap Fans Scramble as Days of Our Lives Moves to New Home After 50 Years
*Downloads Peacock immediately*
Big shifts are happening over at NBC. As of September 12, Days of Our Lives is no longer airing on NBC — from here on out, new daily episodes will premiere on Peacock instead. While a win among cable cutters, lifelong fans of the soap will have to pivot and fast. During its 57-year tenure on NBC, Days of Our Lives has amassed nearly 60 Daytime Emmy awards.

The scripted TV show first aired in 1965. New to the Days of Our Lives fanhood? Peacock will also have past seasons available for streaming. It’ll join the ranks of the streaming platform’s spin-off soap series, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.
Per Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, this shift, while alarming to some, was the logical next step in furthering the type of content NBC televises.
“This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” Lazarus said in an August 4 press release.
“With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”
NBC is wasting no time finding a replacement to fill Days of Our Lives’ former mid-day time slot. The broadcast network is actually doing a total 180, switching from entertainment to breaking news. NBC News Daily will be filling the shoes. The broadcast covers both national and international breaking news.
Like sands through the hourglass, it’s the end of an era, but luckily for fans, it won’t be the last you’ll see of Bo and Hope.
