Dax Shepard explains Christmas to his kids, is hilariously honest

Dax Shepard appeared on the Ellen show today (dressed in his state trooper uniform from the CHiPs reboot which he wrote and is directing and starring in, because multi-tasking, you guys). While he was there, he talked about the adorable kids he has with wife, Kristen Bell (aka, Veronica Mars, holla!).

Their daughters, Lincoln and Delta Bell, are 2 1/2 and one years old, respectively, and are getting pretty excited about the holidays. And honestly, we don’t blame them one bit after hearing how Dax explained the concept of Santa Claus to little Lincoln.

Growing up, Dax’s mom was “painfully honest” with him about everything, which is a tactic he uses with his own kids. (Because as he told Ellen, it worked out great. After all, there Dax is on the Ellen show.) Of course, honesty is a little tricky when it comes to the whole Santa sitch. But guys, Dax Shepard totally pulls it off.

As he explained to Ellen, he told Lincoln, “There’s going to be a guy stopping by on Christmas Eve in a red jumpsuit with combat boots, huge Grizzly Adams beard. He goes by Kris Kringle or St. Nick. He’s got a lot of aliases.” Which, now that we think about it, does sound a little sketchy. Why so many names, Santa? Pick an identity, dude.

Dax went on to say, “And he’s going to show up riding a team of endangered animals. He’s going to park them on the roof and then he’s going to rappel in. He’s going to root around the area for a while, eat some cookies and whatnot. Don’t worry. He’s not diabetic. He looks like it, but it’s okay.” We’re actually relieved to hear that. Don’t worry Santa, we’ve got nothing but love for your belly like a bowl full of jelly. We just want to know you’re rocking some good health, and apparently you are.

Lincoln’s excited and anxious to meet this dubious character known as Santa. We totally feel her excitement. I mean, her dad’s description of him is nothing short of epic.
