Thank the Great Pumpkin, David S. Pumpkins is getting his own TV special
This is probably going to be the closest we ever get to a true Halloween miracle: David S. Pumpkins is getting his own TV special.
ANY QUESTIONS?
Yes, lots, so let’s get into the details you want to know. NBC has just announced that the breakout character of Saturday Night Live Season 42 is getting a stand-alone special on October 28th. It sure sounds like this special will take place instead of a regular SNL episode, because it’s set to air at 11:30 p.m. (No word yet if it will also air coast-to-coast like SNL this season.)
The man behind the pumpkin suit, Tom Hanks, will be reprising his role as the titular David S. Pumpkins in a story for all ages. According to Variety:
"Set in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve, the special centers on David Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way."
Joining Hanks on this joyous occasion is Game of Thrones’ very own Peter Dinklage, who will voice ~someone~ in the episode.
“It’s scary how quickly the original SNL sketch caught on, and we’re thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going,” George Cheeks, NBC Entertainment’s president of business operations and late night programming, explained in a press release.

This also probably answers why Hanks tweeted a mysterious script page for David S. Pumpkins not that long ago:
