David Lynch is directing Twin Peaks after all!
Wonderful news, Twin Peaks fans! News broke yesterday that David Lynch has returned to helm the Showtime reboot of the iconic 1990s TV show! Lynch himself took to Twitter yesterday to confirm the awesome news with a very David Lynch-esque Tweet:
As we told you early last month, Lynch left the project over budgetary disagreements. He was concerned that he wasn’t going to have the resources he needed to do the show justice, and as a result, walked. David Nevins, the president of Showtime, also spoke about the turnaround on Friday.
“Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected,” Nevins said, with such a sly nod to Agent Dale Cooper’s love of coffee. “David will direct the whole thing, which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!”
That’s right — not only will we have David Lynch back in action, but we’re getting more episodes than originally expected! No word on how many more, but we’ll take it! Of course, the stars of the show and fans are thrilled to have Lynch back in the director seat. Kyle MacLachlan, who is reprising his role as Agent Cooper, welcomed Lynch back via Twitter.
He also had this to say:
Damn fine coffee indeed, Agent Cooper!
