There is a David Bowie musical in the works, and it sounds deliciously creepy

Director Agnieszka Smoczynska is combining her loves of science-fiction and David Bowie in a musical. And we are so here for it. With the working-title Deranged, we can already bet it’s going to be iconic just like the late-great entertainer himself.

Smoczynska blended dark fantasy and ’80s rock-and-roll before to create on-stage magic. Her newest project, The Lure, does just that! The horror musical follows the lives of mermaids caught up in rock-and-roll. And it acquired a slew of rave reviews.

And if Deranged is anything like it, we know we’re going to be in for a treat.

The David Bowie-inspired musical is officially in development!

But it gets better. Smoczynska shared mind-blowing deets about the musical, and it sounds a lot like Bowie’s 1995 conceptual album 1.Outside.

"We want to make a science-fiction opera with music by David Bowie, titled 'Deranged,'" Smoczynska told 'MoviePilot,' about the potential project. "It’s about an investigator who is hired by the Art Crime Department to determine whether the murder of a 16-year-old girl is a crime or a work of art. We’ve started to work on it, and I hope it will happen.

Mind…blown.

It’s definitely creative and against the grain — both of which represent the very essence of the late icon.
