This dating app is for lazy people who want more than Tinder
If you’re one of the many folks out there who have taken advantage of dating apps, but haven’t gotten far by using them, you may have some common frustrations. They all have pros and cons, but apps like Match and eHarmony require you to fill out a lot of in-depth background information and sometimes only give you a few matches after you’ve taken all that time to build a profile. On the flip side, apps like Tinder take no time at all to set up and yield a ton of matches, but you may have issues finding someone you actually mesh with in-person.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in luck, because there’s a new dating app that is designed to give you the best of both worlds. Appropriately named Precisely, the app allows you to choose among 200 filters in 25 different categories to narrow down exactly what you’re looking for – pretty much anything you can think of, from “blonde” to “Buddhist.”
And while Precisely gives you lots of options to save time in the long run by finding exactly what traits you need in a partner, it also doesn’t take forever to set up a profile on the app, since its filtering techniques are seamless and quick-to-click. In fact, according to Precisely cofounder Mindy Willens, the average profile-time setup is just two minutes and 14 seconds.
“It saves so much time to segment what you’re looking for,” Mindy Willens, who cofounded Precisely with her brother Eric Willens, told The New York Post. She added that she got the idea for the app when she kept ending up on dates with guys who had pets — and she’s allergic to most animals, including both cats and dogs. Talk about frustrating.
The app returns straightforward results: profiles with a percentage next to them reflecting how much the individuals match what you’re looking for. But what’s extra cool about Precisely are features that take it a few steps further than just saving time and…well, being precise. For example, it will show you the types of people – musician, dancer, vegan – that are most interested in you, which sounds both like a lot of pressure and pretty cool. I mean, who doesn’t want to know, deep down, what kind of people they attract?
The app will also allow you to upload an optional 10-second video to your profile if you want, to enhance your photos. Oh, and Precisely will eventually offer trending filters, too. These will reflect current societal goings-on like, for example, the 2016 presidential campaign. Or the upcoming Oscar race (OK I made this one up, but seriously, no Leo supporter, no thanks).
“We actually want the public to be a part of this,” Eric Willens said to The New York Post of how they plan to take users’ feedback into account. “We want them to suggest filters.”
