“American Crime Story” actor Darren Criss is engaged, and fans of Blaine Warbler will never be the same

We’ll never forget the first time actor-musician Darren Criss made our hearts sing, playing the dreamy Blaine Anderson on FOX’s Glee back in 2010. Sure, he broke our hearts when he cheated on Kurt in Season 4 of the series. But like Kurt, we forgave him because we knew true love when we sang it, er…saw it.

So when we found out Darren Criss is engaged, the news made us want to belt out a bittersweet love ballad, Glee-style. And we have a feeling fans of Blaine Warbler will never be the same.

Criss had already been messing with our hearts (and heads!) by the time his engagement news broke on Friday, January 19th. Why? Ryan Murphy’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story debuted on FX on Wednesday, January 17th. The series is based on the real-life murder of fashion designer Gianna Versace. In it, Criss portrays serial killer and Versace murderer Andrew Cunanan to a bone-chilling “T.”

Hard to believe someone so sweet could play such a cold-blooded killer? Here’s what the series’ actors, including Criss, look like compared to the real people. (Blaine, how could you?)

So, imagine how excited (read: relieved) we were when Criss took to social media to adorably announce his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, writer and producer Mia Swier.

"Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together," Criss wrote. "And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin' for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage. 🚀💍🖖"

We can’t even with the Star Trek references, Darren Criss. Heart = melted.

And there’s no doubt this love is for real. How many couples do you know who dress up as Leonardo DiCaprio-as-Romeo and Claire-Danes-as-Juliet for Halloween? It’s enough to make us forget all about Kurt! (Sorry, Kurt.)

Congrats to the happy couple!
