Daniel Radcliffe was super scared of this “Harry Potter” costar at first, and tbh, we can’t blame him

Daniel Radcliffe has come a long way since he started playing Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Can you believe that movie came out all the way back in 2001?! Since that time, he’s really learned how to handle his own in interviews, dealt with some pretty rough anxiety after Harry Potter ended (and been really brave and open about it), and gotten a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

However, back when he started, he was only a young boy, and his costars were some pretty big names in acting — it was understandable that he’d be nervous meeting some of them. Especially the actor who was slated to play He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named — okay, okay, Voldemort — for the films: actor Ralph Fiennes.

“I remember when I was 15 doing scenes with Ralph for the first time,” Radcliffe said in an interview with People editor Jess Cagle. “He was even scarier than Alan was at first.”

He went on to say, “Alan was super-intimidating to start off with as well, but then you get into it, but Ralph genuinely scared me for a few years.”

He’s talking about the late Alan Rickman, who played Snape in the Harry Potter films, and who will ~always~ have a place in our hearts.
