Daniel Radcliffe helped a tourist after a mugging, ’cause he’s the nicest wizard around
Proving that he’s not just a hero when it comes to defeating the dark lord and saving the wizarding world, Daniel Radcliffe helped a tourist after they were mugged in west London, and it sounds like it was pretty harrowing.
According to a report by The Evening Standard, a free newspaper given out in London, Radcliffe was in the area on Friday when he witnessed people on mopeds grab at a tourist’s Louis Vuitton bag and slash at his face. Currently, London is has been struck with a multitude of thefts and crimes committed by a moped gang, including a string of acid attacks that took place in just 90 minutes within each other.
Representatives for the 27-year-old actor confirmed that he was indeed at the scene, however they refused to comment, noting that it was “a police matter.”
The Metropolitan police released a statement confirming the incident.
“The victim — a man aged in his 50s — was walking in the road when two people riding a moped snatched his bag before riding off,” they said. “The victim suffered a cut to the face during the incident.”
According to David Videcette, a former police officer, he noticed the suspects acting suspiciously so decided to follow them. He tried to apprehend the suspects after they attacked the victim with a knife and stole his bag, but they drove off through a red traffic light before he could stop them. Returning to the scene of the incident, he saw Daniel Radcliffe comforting the victim.
“It was a bit of the surreal moment,” Videcette said. “I said, ‘You’re Daniel Radcliffe.’ And he replied, ‘I am.’ He was a really nice bloke, a lot of stars wouldn’t have stopped to help. The victim was very, very shaken up.”
Police told Evening Standard that no arrests have been made, and that an investigation into the incident was underway.
