Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Harry Potter’ audition tape was uncovered and it holds much cuteness
I’ll admit that I’m a BIG fan of Daniel Radcliffe. I actually like him more post-Harry Potter, because during most of Harry Potter I wanted to be like, “Harry, please get a haircut” (Goblet of Fire, come on). Now, though, I’m having a tough time deciding between post-Harry and pre-Harry DanRad, because a video of him auditioning at age 10/11ish has just been uncovered, and it is too cute for words.
In an interview with U.K.’s The Times magazine, Radcliffe explains that he recently had this early audition tape emailed to him. His response was not, “wow that was so long ago!” but rather, “Oh s&%$! OK…” — as one usually response when they’re met with embarrassing pictures of their past.
However, this video is far from embarrassing, since it’s what snagged Radcliffe the title role in a whole series of movies that would go on to gross billions. But according to Radcliffe, he doesn’t like watching any of these movies, especially the earlier ones, because he was “at a stage when you hate your face anyway, and anything it does is repellent to you.”
Yeah, but for us this is absolutely adorable. Just look at his little face and big blue eyes! (They aren’t green, sorry). The giggle he does halfway through is what completely wins me over, and if I were the casting director for this movie, I would have cast him on the spot at that point. Even though Radcliffe is wearing Hufflepuff colors, it’s clear that he was a born Gryffindor right from the start.
Check out the video that Radcliffe hates below, and prepare for some adorable very early HP feels.
