10 dance scenes from the ’90s you totally memorized
The ’90s provided some of our world’s most legendary dance moves (The Carlton, the Macarena and the running man are just a few). That said, it should come as no surprise that this decade was chock full of unforgettable dance routines.
Sure, TV shows and music videos contributed to much of this phenomenon, but we must not overlook the overwhelming contributions of ’90s cinema! There are tons of unforgettable dance routines out there. From the violent head bobs of the Butabi brothers to the Irish jig in Titanic — we’ve got you covered. Here are 10 dance scenes from ’90s movies you totally memorized.
1. Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)

After lying about inventing Post-Its, Romy and Michele rectified themselves with a dramatic wardrobe change and an unforgettable dance routine. Choreographed to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” Romy and Michele get down with former classmate/self-made billionaire, Sandy Frink. If only all high school reunions ended in a glorious helicopter ride.
2. A Night At The Roxbury (1998)

Aside from their famous head bob, the Butabi brothers got down to a fabulously awkward dance routine at the Roxbury (where else). I think it’s also fair to note that no Butabi brother dance routine is complete without a shiny suit, a tight black shirt and a gold chain.
3. Pulp Fiction (1994)

Vincent Vega thought he was only treating Mia Wallace to a hamburger and a five dollar milkshake. That is, until Mia coaxed him to join the twist dance contest. For someone who didn’t want to participate, I think Vincent did a pretty mean twist.
4. Bring It On (2000)

I know, Bring It On isn’t technically a ’90s movie, but I refuse to believe you didn’t take some of these cheers to the sidelines of your own soccer games. There were a lot of routines to choose from, but I think “Brr, It’s Cold In Here” fits the bill quite nicely.
5. Titanic (1997)

Alright, so maybe we didn’t memorize this Gaelic jig to precision, but who can resist the spinning face shots of Jack and Rose? It’s the only choreography that matters.
6. She’s All That (1999)

I guess this is the type of extravagant dance routine you get when Usher is DJing your prom. If this is any indication of what proms were like in the ’90s, then by all means, take me back. I’m pretty sure my prom mainly consisted of people “grinding”…is that still happening by any chance?
7. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Before showing off her moves in Save The Last Dance, Julia Stiles pulled a Coyote Ugly and got down with her bad self on a top of this table. That is, until she banged her head on a chandelier. Thankfully, Heath Ledger was there to catch her.
8. House Party (1990)

High top fades, billowing button down shirts tucked into tight jeans and yes, a Kid N Play dance off. It doesn’t get any more early ’90s than this.
9. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)

Before his violent dance off with Britney Spears in Goldmember, Austin Powers wasted no time showing off his moves in the opening credits of International Man of Mystery. Needless to say, he knows how to make quite the first impression.
10. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Mrs. Doubtfire’s short and sweet vacuum dance has managed to stay fresh in our brains since childhood. Then again, anything that involves Mrs. Doubtfire swinging a vacuum around to “Dude Looks Like A Lady” is golden in my book.
