Dakota Johnson says she had a very European approach to filming “Fifty Shades” and we love her body positive views on nudity
You go girl! Actress Dakota Johnson had a very “European” approach to Fifty Shades filming and her positive views on nudity are so great.
Johnson is Vogue’s February 2017 cover girl and she’s spilling it all when it comes to the Fifty Shades franchise, including what it’s like to film all those sex scenes.
The 27-year-old actress plays Anastasia Steele, aka the lead female in the movie series, and while all those steamy sex scenes could be awkward, her approach to filming them is pretty cool.
"Nudity is really interesting for an actor," Johnson told Vogue. "Jamie and I worked so incredibly closely for so long. There were no inhibitions, and it was very honest, very trusting."
“But I mean, what a gamble! What if he had turned out to be a total dick?” she continued. “There’s no makeup. There are no clothes to tell you a bit about the story. There’s no jewelry to give you a clue about social status. So it becomes purely about the performance.”
As for if she’ll ever stop doing nude scenes, the Texas native has an interesting answer.
"Will I stop doing nude scenes when my boobs start sagging? I don’t know," Johnson said. "Maybe I have more of a European mind-set about these things. I don't want to see someone wearing a bra and underwear in a sex scene."
“Let’s be honest about it,” she continued. “People are naked when they f**k.”
Way to go Johnson, you tell em!
The How to Be Single actress also talked about her character Ana and why she loves playing her and we totally agree with her description.
“This woman is a badass,” Johnson explained. “She’s hyper-intelligent and hyper-sexual and very tough and very loving, and her character has so many different aspects that don’t normally make sense in one person. I tried to amplify them all.”
Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters on February 10th, 2017 and we can’t wait to see Johnson back in action as the multi-dimensional character.
