Dakota Johnson just explained how her ‘Fifty Shades’ performance intimidates, well, everybody
No matter how you feel about Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, it’s evident that the whole Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy is, in a word, intense. So naturally, when Dakota Johnson made her debut on Ellen, Ellen Degeneres couldn’t help but ask her a little bit about what it’s like to play a character that portrays her in such an intimate, steamy way. And she asked the question we’ve all been wondering. . . how do people react to that? Like, really, that’s gotta lead to some awkward conversations.
Turns out that yes, people are a little bit intimidated by the whole thing. When Ellen asked Dakota if people act “weird” about the role, Dakota admitted that, yes, sometimes people can act super strange.
“Sometimes people just say things that are a little bit awkward for me,” she told the talk show host. “Like I was in a cab recently, and the driver was like, ‘You know my wife and I, we saw your film. . . we really liked it. . . I thought there could be more sex.’ And I was about to roll out of the car when he was driving.”
Yeesh. Luckily, Dakota’s family hasn’t seen the movie, so she hasn’t had to deal with that awkwardness. Little blessings, right? But the movie has had an impact on her love life. When Ellen asked Dakota if guys are “scared” of her or approach her less often, Dakota joked, “You mean like when they run away from me?” She then explained that it sends guys “running from the hills.”
Meh, who needs ’em anyway. Dakota has clearly got a ton of awesome success in her future, as she’s starring in Black Mass (out now!) alongside Johnny Depp. She’ll also be in the next Fifty Shades film, which will start shooting “sometime in the new year”. . . so to prepare her, Ellen gave her plenty of “Ellen blue” sex toys, because hey, gotta be reminded of our girl Ellen during shooting, right?
