Dakota Fanning’s celestial dress makes her look like a space princess
Oh my stars! American Pastoral actress and Save The Children Artist Ambassador, Dakota Fanning, stepped out in this amazing Elie Saab dress from the designer’s ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2017 collection. It’s a thigh-length black mesh dress complete with colorful star appliqués and Fanning wore the colorful piece to the 4th Annual Save the Children Illumination Gala last night at the Park Plaza Hotel.
Elie Saab’s entire collection is space-inspired and the child-like galactic pattern is really making us swoon. Underneath the patches, the plunging neckline is really quite alluring. But matched with a playful skater-styled skirt, the overall dress is perfect for an event such as the Save the Children Illumination Gala.
This dress makes us want to iron patches onto our own black dresses. It’s just too cool.
Fanning wore the dress with the brass buckle belt it comes with, cinching her at the waist. She also paired the outfit with some simple black strappy Christian Louboutins, making sure not to distract the eye from the star appliqués. On Saab’s website, the model sports a pair of yellow heels to match the yellow stars. But we love how Fanning kept the look toned down and focused on making the pattern stand out.
Also, check out the beading around each of the appliqués. That detail is to die for.
This dress could definitely inspire a heavy-duty DIY fanatic to recreate a similar look and “upcycle” an existing black dress. Cut different shapes out of cool fabrics and attach to the garment by way of iron-on backing, or simple hand sewing. Grab some beads at your local craft store to add a sparkly touch to the final product.
Because who wouldn’t want to be as cool and stylish as Dakota Fanning?
Just something to think about! We think you could really reach for the stars with this project… Anyone? Anyone?
