Dakota Fanning’s short leather dress has us seeing stripes in the best way
Ooh la la! Dakota Fanning, star of the upcoming crime thriller American Pastoral, was spotted in New York yesterday evening. She was sporting a super trendy, vertical-striped, leather body-con dress, reminiscent of an art deco Piet Mondrian painting.
Fanning attended a rooftop party held by Save The Children in celebration of International Day of the Girl. As a Save The Children Artist Ambassador, Fanning joined Save The Children president and CEO (Carolyn Miles) and a group of Save The Children scholarship recipients in lighting the Empire State Building red. The red lighting symbolizes the recognition of “girls and the unique challenges they face globally.”
Both Fanning (and the girls from Save The Children) certainly dressed to impress last night.
Fanning’s primary-colored stripes definitely jazz up her classic black ’60s-style mini dress. Plus, we have to give Fanning kudos for subtly matching her pop of red with the Empire State Building.

In a short interview with Save The Children, Fanning stated,
"Every girl deserves to follow her dreams no matter where she comes from or what her circumstances are. The first step in doing that is bringing attention to the barriers girls face globally. The second step is empowering young girls to reach their full potential."
Fanning has been working with Save The Children for some time now. In June, Fanning, alongside other notable models and celebrities, was involved in a Gabriela Hearst shoe auction that aimed to raise money for Save The Children.
