Dakota Fanning’s glasses are beautifully nerdy-chic, we need a pair on our faces STAT

You may know Dakota Fanning for her roles in a mountain of movies (Twilight, Uptown Girls, Charlotte’s Web, anyone?) or as a contemporary red-carpet style icon. But you might not have heard that she’s also an activist for children’s and women’s rights.
In fact, the actress is an artist ambassador with Save the Children and today, on International Day of the Girl, she showed her support for girls’ rights by lighting New York’s Empire State Building red.
The lighting of the building is meant to “shine a light” on girls around the world, who too often face high rates of violence, poverty, and a lack of access to education, and Dakota said it was important to her to be a part of the day because “girls in particular are at risk of being left behind.”
In a statement released before the event she said,
"New York holds a special place in my heart, and there’s really no better way to honor girls and bring attention to the obstacles they face worldwide than by lighting up one of the world’s most iconic landmarks."
While speaking to supporters at the event, Dakota not only wowed us with her poise and confidence, she also let her signature personal style shine — yet another reason we love her. Wearing a pair of nerdy-chic prescription glasses, she looked sophisticated and ready to take on any challenge presented to her.
