Here’s how you know your Dairy Queen Blizzard is legit
Pulling up to a drive thru for a Dairy Queen Blizzard is a small joy that everyone deserves to experience on a regular basis. But Reddit wants to teach you an important DQ Blizzard lesson, because there have been some questions circulating about what a DQ Blizzard is really made out of. Some Reddit users have finally gotten to the bottom of what exactly makes up a fan favorite — the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard.
It all started when the Reddit user ShadowNozeKnows “noticed a curious variation” in her Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard when she ordered it in a different city. “Some DQs add a squirt of chocolate syrup to the ice cream, no matter what flavor you’ve ordered,” they wrote. “My hometown DQ does NOT do this…So what’s the official, corporate-sanctioned version of the Blizzard? Is it supposed to have chocolate added or not?”
These are excellent questions that need to be answered in order for us to carry on with our everyday lives. Luckily, a Reddit angel by the username of tkeon168 stepped in to clear the air.
"It is listed with 3 ingredients on the website: Vanilla Soft Serve, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge," tkeon168 wrote.
This comes directly from the DQ website, so we know it’s reliable information. So if you order a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard and it doesn’t include the chocolate fudge, which swirls around and gives it that rich chocolatey flavor, you have a fraud Blizzard on your hands. You can either ask for a different one or just request that they add the fudge on top so you can mix it in yourself.
It seems like chocolate fudge is an essential ingredient in just about every famous Blizzard at DQ. One Reddit user said, “When I worked at DQ back in high school, we added chocolate syrup to chocolate chip cookie dough, snickers, and kit Kat.”
So there you have it. Your Blizzard should probably include chocolate fudge. If you’re wondering what the proper ingredients are to your favorite Blizzard flavor, you can pay DQ’s website a visit and see what’s supposed to come in it.
