The CW is ending not one but THREE beloved shows — and first of all, how dare you

At the CW Upfronts today, the network just announced its fall schedule and confirmed that three of its most beloved series are coming to an end next year. While it’s been long speculated that Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would be ending their respective runs after their upcoming seasons, CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed the news, and revealed that iZombie would be coming to an end, too.

Of the three series, Pedowitz said, “We will miss each of those shows in terms of what they’ve done. They’ve helped the perception of The CW across the board.”

Back in March, Jane star Gina Rodriguez hinted that the series’ upcoming fifth season would be its last. At a SXSW panel, the Annihilation actress opened up about her time on the critically acclaimed series, calling it “the most incredible experience.” Rodriguez, who made her directorial debut during Season 4 of the hit series, reportedly told the crowd that she’d like to “do more [directing] next year — in our final season.” Unfortunately for fans still reeling from that major bombshell in the finale, Jane the Virgin‘s final season is set to premiere during the midseason.

For fans of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, news of the series end after the upcoming fourth season is not entirely surprising as creators Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna have long maintained that the series was only meant to run for four “cycles.”

But while most fans have been preparing to say goodbye to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin for months now, the two series — The CW’s most critically acclaimed series, earning the network its first two Golden Globe awards — coming at an end at the same time is a devastating blow. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait until January to begin their final journey with Rebecca Bunch. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will begin airing Season 4 this fall.

Additionally, iZombie has maintained a small but passionate fan-base throughout its run. The series, which is also being held until midseason, will end after five seasons.

Soon they’ll be gone but never forgotten (mostly because the shows are all on Netflix, too).
