The cutest animals you never knew existed
What’s the cutest animal in the world? Is it the puppy? The kitten? The baby hedgehog? The Internet-famous red panda? Great debate rages about which furry (or scaly or feathered) little friend deserves the title, but no matter which animal you think deserves the honor, you need to keep an open mind as you review each of the oh-so-adorable animals below. Why? Because they are SO cute and SO unknown. It’s like the hipster version of cuteness. They’re so adorable but obscure and this is your chance to get in on the next big thing in awws before anyone else. You’re welcome.
And even if you’re ahead of the cuteness curve and already know about each and every one of these animals, you’re welcome anyway because they’re amazing and worth looking at over and over again.
Ezo Momonga
This little guy is a flying squirrel (yes, really) found on Hokkaido Island in Japan. His eyes are as big as a Disney Princess’ and he’s been known to melt hearts.
Dik-Dik
The Dik-dik is a African antelope, but not just any antelope, a miniature one. They’re adorable and as babies, they’re almost too much to handle.
Mexican Axolotls
Is this a real animal or something adorable that Pixar animated? Because I’m honestly not sure.
Numbat
Meet the numbat. It’s an Australian marsupial that’s also endangered, I’m assuming because it survives on cuteness and the world supply is being drained by everything on this list (just kidding, it actually eats mostly termites, but that’s less cute).
Spoon-Billed Sandpiper Chick
Hailing from Russia and Southeast Asia, this little guy is critically endangered and critically adorable. If these pictures don’t turn you into an animal conservationist, I don’t know what will.
Potoo Bird
The Potoo walks the line between adorable and creepy, but I think it falls on the adorable side. Those eyes are captivating. You’d have to travel to South and Central America to see one in the wild though.
Dumbo Octopus
This little blob of cuteness looks kind of like a real-life Pokemon of some kind, which is to say: TOTALLY ADORABLE.
