This creepy teaser for Netflix’s new JonBenét Ramsey doc is seriously unsettling

Whether or not you’re a true crime buff, you’ve probably heard of the infamous Jon Benét Ramsey case. And Netflix just released a teaser for their upcoming documentary Casting JonBenét that will likely seriously spark your curiosity and creep you out.

In case you need a refresher, JonBenét Ramsey was the six-year-old beauty queen who was killed in her Colorado home in the mid-’90s, but the case was never solved and remains open today — even after CBS produced a two-part documentary this past year that entailed a team of forensic experts attempting to shed light on the case (entitled The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey).

Yeah, it’s heavy stuff. And the upcoming Netflix documentary is unique in the fact that its main objective is to explore the intense media speculation and chaos that followed in the wake of the murder.

The clip will send shivers down your spine, as it shows a bunch of little girls auditioning for the role of JonBenét Ramsey in the documentary, when one asks a surprising question.

Yeah, you probably weren’t expecting this sweet blonde girl to look down the barrel of the camera and ask, “Do you know who killed JonBenét Ramsey?” in the same tone as she would use when asking for a sandwich.

The film premieres at Sundance this weekend, but we’ll have to wait until April to see it on Netflix. The description on Netflix labels it as a “hybrid documentary exploring the legacy of the tiny starlet’s shocking murder,” and we’re ready (well, mentally preparing) to learn about how the loss of JonBenét really affected the national community.

It’s likely to be devastating from every angle, as not only were JonBenét’s parents considered suspects at one point in time, but her nine-year-old brother was as well. If you were interested in Making a Murderer and the Serial podcast, this will probably be up your alley.
